Health Care

All children must receive required immunizations prior to admission to St. Paul School and Child Care.  Parents will be notified when a communicable disease has been introduced into the center.  When a child becomes ill while in the center, he will be separated from the other children and parents will be called immediately to remove their child if the child has fever, vomits, has diarrhea or any other symptoms the director warrants as need for removal.  Readmission to the center shall be based on a note of approval from the child’s physician if the child is out for an extended period of time.
In case of critical illness or injury while your child is at the center, your physician will be contacted for instruction and parents will be contacted immediately.  If the parents cannot be reached, the emergency person will be notified.  If immediate care is needed, your child will be taken by EMS to the recommended emergency room.  If the child has not had a physician in attendance, the child may not be readmitted to the center until he/she is free of fever and/or symptoms for 24 hours.
*Under no conditions should a child with a fever be sent to school.
To authorize our administration of medicines, a medication form or note from parent must be completed and signed by the parent.  During the school year all medicines are kept in the school office.  In the summer, medicines are kept in a secure location in the director’s office.
            Medicine brought by parents must:
·         be in original container
·         be labeled with the child’s name
·         be labeled with the date
·         include directions to administer the medicine
·         include the name of the physician prescribing the medicine
On bad weather day’s children are kept inside.  Do dress your child warmly on cold days as we may have a short recess outside.  Please do not ask that your child be kept inside due to illness, as we are not staffed to care for children who cannot fully participate in the program.  Any child too ill to participate in activities should be kept at home.

Incident/Accident Reports
All incidents and accidents will be documented and reported on an incident/accident form.  This form is then signed by the child care director and the parent.  A copy will be given to the parent and the original placed in the child’s file.  If an injury occurs at child care center that requires a doctor’s attention, we will notify Texas Department of Family and Protective Services of such incident.  Parents may be called by TDFPS to follow up on that call.

Child Abuse
We are legally responsible to report any and all signs of abuse or unexplained marks to Abuse Hotline.

Emergencies
If an emergency occurs on campus due to extreme weather, flood, gas, or fire.  The children will be removed from endangered area and parents will be contacted immediately as to where their child can be picked up.
