The Rev. Sherman Stenson was called as Associate Pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church & School in January 2007 and was ordained and installed in Austin on March 18, 2007. Pastor Stenson received his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana, majoring in Pastoral Ministry & Missions and minoring in Historical Theology. A life-long Lutheran, Pastor Stenson came to the LCMS as a layperson when it became clear that his former denomination, the ELCA, was no longer adhering to the truths of the Bible and the Lutheran Confessions and was no longer an orthodox Christian church. |
Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Pastor Stenson grew up in the Detroit suburb of Farmington. His undergraduate degree is in Industrial & Operations Engineering from The University of Michigan, where he also played baseball on Big Ten championship and College World Series teams. During his secular career in the area of logistics and operations planning, he also earned an M.B.A. from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Pastor Stenson has been married since 1990 to Tamera Kimberly Cole. She is a graduate of Smith College and the Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, and she currently works in clinical practice on a part-time basis. Pastor and Mrs. Stenson have two sons: John (1993) and David (1997). They also have a house full of animals, both rescued and purchased. Pastor Stenson enjoys golf, woodworking, sports, reading, and traveling and camping with his family.
