Committees

Baptismal Banners Committee shall be responsible for getting the banners made for baptisms and getting them to the appropriate service for the baptism. Dorcas members will periodically assist the committee putting together the banners as needed during a designated meeting time. Materials needed for the banners will be paid for from the general fund or from donations.
 
Christian Concerns and Christian Service Committee shall administer charity among such persons who are in need of it: shall make arrangements for donated food to be delivered to the Capitol Area Food Bank; shall arrange for preparation and serving of food for the bereaved when there is a death in a family of the congregation. A member of this committee shall have charge of any project that is being done in regard to institutions.

Christian Growth Committee shall consist of the Chairman and any others she may appoint and shall arrange for all regular meeting programs, distribute and encourage the use of the Lutheran Woman’s Quarterly and cooperate with zone, district and national Christian Growth Committees in furthering Bible Study, topic discussions, workshops, retreats and institutes.

Coffee Committee shall be responsible for ensuring that individuals are designated each week to set up coffee and bring refreshments, remind designated individuals of their commitments, and make arrangements for sponsors for coffee during months not committed by Dorcas.

Cradle Roll Committee shall be responsible for getting information concerning newborns in the congregation and appointing Dorcas members to be responsible for sending out appropriate information to the infants’ families on a timely basis.

Membership Committee shall have the primary responsibility of contacting prospective members for the society.

Mission Service Committee shall have the primary responsibility for projects concerning Lutheran World Relief, Mission Ingatherings and stamps.

Nominations Committee shall have the primary responsibility of securing names of members who agree to serve as officers. This committee consists of three members and is appointed annually through an automatic process of taking the next three names on the membership roster.

Public Relations Committee shall consist of the Chairman and any others she may appoint and shall relay activities of the society to the District News; take care of the necessary publicity of the society; and place an announcement of the meeting in the church’s newsletter.

Telephone/E-Mail Committee shall notify society members of any special events as well as doing any other necessary telephoning.

Ways, Means, Mission Projects and Scholarship Fund Committee shall be responsible for developing ideas to present to the membership concerning potential mission projects and fund raising activities and shall be responsible for recruiting the chairman and core members to carry out fund raising activities approved by the membership. This committee will also identify students of the congregation eligible to receive gifts from the Scholarship Fund.

Yearbook Committee shall be responsible for printing and assembling the Dorcas yearbook  and distributing the book (usually at the September meeting).
