Musical Groups
The Adult Choir meets on Wednesdays (September through May) on Wednesday evening at 7:30 P.M. in the school music room. The choir sings most Sundays, leading the congregation's song through hymns, psalms, verse settings and anthems.
The Brass Choir meets on Wednesdays (September through May) on Wednesday evening at 6:30 in the church balcony. The group plays at least monthly, playing hymn settings, with some choir settings and music which spans the time from Renaissance to current composers.
The Handbell Choir meets on Wednesdays (September through May) on Wednesday evening at 6:30 in the school music room. The group rings for services, accompanying hymns and psalms as well as playing anthems during distribution and as an offertory. The choir also has played in Galveston at Dickens on the Strand and at Wimberly. The Handbell Choir is directed by Margie Pacey and Theresa Watson.
During the summer, the Summer Band/Wind Ensemble rehearses for 5-6 weeks and presents a concert. The Instrumentalists in the wind ensemble are members and friends who enjoy playing – some are in other groups throughout the city, some are high school and college age students and others play less frequently and this is a great time to join together for a wonderful concert. Selections range from marches, show tunes, concert band literature by Fennell, Persichetti, Holst, Vaughn Williams, Sousa and many others. Blue Bell ice cream tops off the event!
You are welcome to join any of these musical groups at St. Paul! We always welcome new members!
