Summer Camp-Style Program |
During the summer months, St. Paul provides many fun, exciting experiences, and enjoyable learning activities. The summer program is open to all children of ages 3 to 12 years old enrolled in St. Paul Lutheran School first and then to the general public. Weekly motivating themes integrating arts-n-crafts, singing, projects, and games along with Bible story/ verse time and daily group devotional time will fill the day. Children under 5 will have a splash time and guest entertainers or theme-related activities on campus. They are not included on the regularly scheduled field trips. All other children will go on field trips and swim by traveling on a bus to a municipal pool. The Austin PARD assigns St. Paul to a pool. In addition to the life guards at the pool, child care staff who are trained in Community Water Safety, CPR, and First aid accompany the children to the pool on a 1:8 ratio for children 5 to 8 years of age and 1:12 for children 9 to 12 years of age. The child must have appropriate swim attire (bathing suit, swim trunks), towel, shoes, and wear sunscreen. Children without proper pool attire will not be allowed to swim. For safety, we will only use the sunscreen you provide for your child. Children may not share sunscreen. Remember to label all items before sending them to school.
Field Trips Children will go on field trips during the summer and occasionally on Vacation Child Care days. In addition, on swimming field trips we comply with the city ordinances governing Day Care use of a city pool. St. Paul uses the Concordia Academy bus driven by trained staff. If you are interested in coming along on a field trip please let us know 2 to 3 days before, a written notice preferred. If the child needs to be picked up at the field trip, written notice should be given to the student’s caregiver prior to departure.
