Curriculum Overview

The curriculum for 8^th grade is based on Integrating the Faith (Concordia Publishing House ) and the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills ) is the basis for instruction.

Teaching of the Core subjects focuses on the following:

• Religion – Doctrine of the Lutheran Church
  
• Math – Students are tested and divided up into a Pre-algebra or Algebra I (receive high school credit) classes
  
• Social Studies – U.S. History
  
  
• Language Arts – includes grammar and novel studies
  
• Science – taught by a Concordia Academy teacher
  
  

Addition instruction is also given in the following areas:

• Art
• Choir
• Band
• Spanish
• Physical Education
• Computer
• Library

The 8^th graders may also participate in athletics, PSIA, student council, and National Honor Society.
