Drawing for the Terrified is an introductory class for those who want to draw but have had little or no formal training.
- Students will be instructed how to observe, draw accurately, and use shading.
- For the first class, whole-group instruction will be given.
- In all subsequent classes participants will choose their own subject matter.
- Participants will receive guidance and individual demonstrations pertinent to their drawings.
- Students will receive some instruction to create pleasing compositions and will be encouraged to pursue their own unique styles and ways of making marks.
- Participants will provide their own materials.
- While participants can use just a regular #2 pencil, copy paper and any eraser, eventually they may want to purchase a wider selection of supplies, such as those below (sources in Austin include Jerry’s Artarama, Hobby Lobby and Michael’s):
- General’s Graphite Drawing Pencils – 4 Piece Set (1 each – HB, 3B, 5B, 6B) – set at Hobby Lobby
- Drawing Accessories (white eraser, kneaded eraser, blending stick, sharpener) – set at Hobby Lobby
- Spiral bound sketchpad (at least 9 x 12).
- Cost for the supplies in the list above probably will average between $20 – $25.
