Music Office Assistant

  • Assist the Director of Music in all aspects of Music in Service to the Gospel at St. Paul, including but not limited to: worship services, ensemble rehearsals, cantor and instrumentalist involvement, the administration and day-to-day operations of the St. Paul Fine Arts Academy, conferences, special projects, and other duties as assigned.
    •  20 hours a week – Required on-site work, especially on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday each week during the academic year to prep spaces and resources (music, lights, stands, et. al.) for rehearsals and services, organization and maintenance of spaces –occasional remote work (clerical, email, etc.).
    • Reports to Director of Music
    •  $25-30/hr. based on experience

  •  Technical Skills
    •  Computer Literacy
      • Proficiency in software like:
        1. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
        2. Google Workspace
        3. Music notation software (Finale, MuseScore, Dorico)
        4. Calendar/scheduling software
        5. Audio editing software
    • Data Entry
      • Accuracy and speed in entering and managing data, tracking payments, participation, etc.
  • Musical/Theological Skills
    •  Read music fluently in bass and treble clef
    •  Understand the differences/idiosyncrasies in a variety of musical scores
      including choral, instrumental, bell choir, keyboard (including organ), etc.
    •  Firm and functional knowledge of:
      • The Liturgy, its variations, usages, orders, etc.
      • Music theory
      • Instrumental transpositions
      • Music history
  • Organizational Skills
    • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage a busy schedule.
    • Multitasking: Efficiently handling multiple responsibilities and projects simultaneously.
    • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in data entry, correspondence, and other tasks.
    • Organization: Maintaining a well-organized physical and digital workspace, as well as managing files, documents, and schedules.
