NEWS JUST IN "The Lutheran School Accreditation Commission met in June to review Annual Reports and Action Plans. St. Paul Lutheran School received an 'Excellent' rating based on your Annual Report." This letter was received in early July 2011 and refers to our accreditation report for the 2010-2011 school year. We are very excited about this rating as it is the highest rating NLSA offers.
What is NLSA? NLSA is a process of self-evaluation followed by a visit from objective observers designed to help Lutheran schools improve the quality of their programs. The process is completely voluntary and available for every school operated by a single congregation, by an association of congregations, or by a recognized service organization of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS).
The Iowa Test of Basic Skills test was administered to students in grades 2-8 in early March. The test is used as a snapshot of how our students are doing and how we are doing as a school. Again this year our students have done very well.
What is ITBS? The Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) is a nationwide, standardized test used by public and private schools. For the last three years our students overall scored higher than 92% of all students taking this test. That puts our students in the top 8% in academics nationwide!
ACCREDITATION - St. Paul is in the process of reapplying for accreditation. We have spent the last few months conducting a self study which will result in final documentation and a visit by an accreditation team. Below are some results from the recent Parent Survey.
AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE CLASS will be an option for the 2011-2012 school year for all 8th graders. We currently teach Spanish in grades K-8 but we are able to offer ASL this year as an option for 8th graders only. Thank you Mrs. Randol for making this possible.
PSIA - PSIA is a private school academic competition that students in grades 1-8 may participate in. Students meet with a coach before or after school and study for dictionary skills, vocabulary, spelling, on-site drawing, and more. Contact Mrs. Julie Hammond, our PSIA coordinator, at 472-3313, for more information.
RENWEB is our new online school management system. By now all families should have logged in and updated their family demographic page. Mid-quarter and quarter grades for grades 3-8 are available. Monthly statements are also available now. Please use RenWeb as your school information site.
